Arrival/Dismissal Procedures
Arrival
Students are permitted to enter the building at 7:15 am. Students are not allowed in the hallway until 7:45 am. Early arrivals must report to and remain in the cafeteria until 7:45 am. Free breakfast is available for all students from 7:15-7:40 am. Plan to arrive at school by 7:45 am to have optimal time to go to lockers, lavatory, etc. and be in class on time. The first bell rings at 7:55 am warning students that they have five minutes to get to class. School begins at 8:00 am daily! Students not in the classroom at 8:00 am are tardy.
Dismissal
Dismissal is at 3:20 pm. Students must leave the building by 3:30 pm unless they are participating in a supervised activity with a staff sponsor. It is imperative that parents make arrangements for students to be picked up at the end of the day. Students who have not been picked up by 3:30 pm must wait outside of the building. Campus must be cleared by 3:40 pm.
Early Dismissal Policy
An Early Dismissal letter must be submitted to the counseling center upon arrival to school if a student needs to leave early. Once the verification process is completed, your child will receive written permission for early dismissal from class/school. The student must present the early dismissal pass to the teacher and report to the counseling center for pick up. Students will only be released to a parent/legal guardian or designated contact person already listed in PowerSchool as indicated in our Student Information System. Parents MUST come to the counseling center and present valid ID for early dismissals.
Early dismissals will not be granted after 2:45 p.m.
Closed Campus
Renaissance High School is a closed campus. Students are not to leave the building between 7:15 am and 3:20 pm without a written pass from a Counselor or Administrator, unless they are registered in a dual enrollment or internship program.

Parent Academy
The goal of Parent Academy is to provide parents the tools and skills to build capacity and confidence to support students academically, socially, and emotionally. All classes are free and offered in convenient locations to meet parents where they are. Parent Academy focuses on three key pillars: Student Achievement, Personal and Professional Development, and Parenting/Advocacy.
PowerSchool
PowerSchool Parent Portal
The PowerSchool parent portal provides parents with direct access to student data via the Internet. Using a confidential ID number and password provided by their child's school, parents can create their own PowerSchool account using a web browser or the PowerSchool app and view their child’s data, such as progress reports, attendance records, report cards, transcripts and more. During account creation, parents can create their own unique username and password. The credentials listed on the form from the school will link the student to their parent's account.
To log on to ParentPortal:
1. Open the URL: http://detroitk12.powerschool.com/public
2. Enter Username and Password, click “Log In”
The first time you login to the PowerSchool app for your phone or tablet, you will be asked to enter the District's unique four digit code: PSNW
If you have not been issued a Username or Password, or are facing challenges with your password, please email belita.mitchell@detroitk12.org for the required login information.
