Renaissance Chess Team Makes History with Championship Sweep

The Renaissance High School Chess Team has achieved an extraordinary milestone during the 2025–2026 season, earning an unprecedented sweep of titles at every level of competition. Demonstrating exceptional strategy, discipline, and teamwork, the team proudly claimed the titles of City Chess Champions, Regional Chess Champions, State of Michigan High School Champions, and National Blitz Champions.

From the opening matches of the season, Renaissance players set the tone with sharp preparation and confident play. Their dominance at the city and regional levels showcased not only their individual skill, but also their ability to collaborate, analyze, and adapt under pressure. As the stakes grew higher, the team continued to rise to the occasion, ultimately securing the State of Michigan championship and solidifying their place among the top high school programs in the state.
